Private House Arif Muhammad owned by content creator Arif Muhammad, widely known for his character Mak Beti, not only represents the owner’s personal identity, but also serves as proof that contextual architecture remains relevant in the contemporary era.

Designing a Home that Tells a Story

Designed by Simon+Dhoni Studio, the house was built not just as a place to live, but as a space that tells a story – about who Arif Muhammad is, the values he holds, and the life journey that shaped him. According to Ramadhoni Dwi Payana, principal architect of the studio, the design of the house was directly inspired by Arif’s personality: simple, open and humble.

Malay Culture in a Modern Frame

Taking a modern Malay architectural approach, the design incorporates traditional elements such as gable roofs and wide openings for lighting and air circulation, but in a simpler, cleaner form. Without excessive form exploration, the house feels grounded yet contemporary-relevant to today’s tropical climate and lifestyle.

In the design process, material selection plays a crucial role. For the architectural team, materials are not just about aesthetics or function, but also about how they can reinforce the design narrative. This is where RB SHERA becomes an important part of the house.

On the facade, RB SHERA Ceiling Strip Straight Grain Shine Light Oak was used. This material features a natural wood texture that is warm and elegant, yet highly resistant to extreme weather. Thanks to Fybertec technology, it is also termite-resistant, does not warp, and is low-maintenance-ideal for exteriors that still want to look aesthetic while being durable.

For the pool area, RB SHERA Floor Plank Color Through was chosen, which is known for its anti-slip surface and water resistance.
